Here is what is true for me. I felt fat, sick and nearly dead after Christmas of this year - didn’t like how I looked in photographs, was slow to move, had very little energy. Week 1 I gave up sugar. Week 2 I gave up bread and grains. Week 3 I increased my protein intake (meat) and reduced root vegetables. I stopped eating fried things. I had already lost 3lbs and was beginning to feel better. Week 4 I let go of the veggies. I’m on Week 5 now and 6lbs down. Feeling so much better. But I’m still learning - I am learning that when I eat meat and fat, like eggs, bacon, lamb chops, steak, with butter and cheese, my pain levels drop from 98% down to 10%. Right now, I’m also learning that a pint of Guinness is okay but 4 pints... Maybe not! A slice of cake, well, I was in bits for 2 days. So no. Being in pain is horrific for me at times. I can’t move in the mornings, it can take me an hour to get up. My body seizes up in the afternoon and I need a hot water bottle. Not anymore.

This week I get up and out of the bed earlier, I am doing workouts and looking forward to the day. I am watching carnivore videos on YouTube and discovered that this way of eating can clear up tinnitus and eye floaters - wow. The biggest thing I have learnt this week is that my body prefers me to eat when I am hungry, then to eat because it’s breakfast time, or lunchtime. It’s been an amazing journey. The inconvenience of not fitting into social occasions around food is worth it, because the inconvenience of being sick, and in pain all the time, was killing me and my enthusiasm for life. Try it and you will see how it impacts you - but you have to be ready.

Hi Abby. You will probably notice a huge difference if you eliminate everything but beef, lamb, salt, water for a few weeks. After that, you can try reintroducing items one by one to see how your body reacts. (Frying is not a problem as long as you use tallow or maybe lard. For example, whitebait fried in tallow is great.)

Thank you! I think I will try it. I fry now in Gee, and I don’t want bread or crisps, which were my go-to’s. I can feel the nitrites in the bacon, and the wheat in the sausages so I need to let go of them next. The proof is in my body, it’s really healing now. I can’t wait for pain-free to be my new modus operandi!

Many people are fine with ghee, but it is still a dairy product which will always retain some milk proteins. You may even notice a difference switching that out for lard/tallow.
